You’re leaving someone who is a part of your family with us, and our team will treat your pet the same way they would their own.
We love the seniors. We can’t tell you enough how much they mean to us. We have experience working with seniors, as well as special needs dogs that are paralyzed, incontinent, have heart conditions, kidney and liver dysfunction, low thyroid, joint pain etc.
Not all senior dogs enjoy the company of young, boisterous dogs. It might get a bit stressful for them especially if the young dogs constantly want to play, while the seniors are just contented with sniffing, taking a stroll or lazing around watching the world go by.
Being a senior, they may sometimes have certain special needs such as cataracts, blindness, arthritis, dementia, seizures or other senior ailments and would require more attention and supervision. They may have trouble walking or need support standing, be wheelchair bound, incontinent or require medication, eye drops etc few times a day. We’re happy to do all these for your dog!
Being in a doggy day care, you are assured that your dog will have mental and physical stimulation that keeps them and their minds active. They will also not be left alone and will always have a human around to supervise.
Senior dogs also tend to walk slower and are less steady on their feet. You don’t want a younger dog bumping into yours. They are more set in their ways and prefer routines; they may get scared with changes, especially if they can’t see well or their minds are slowing down. All effort will be made to minimize the stress levels in their aging bodies.
A senior dog may also require 3 small meals a day, instead of 1 big meal or they may need to be syringe fed water or given subcutaneous drips. Whatever the needs of your senior dog, we understand and will try our best to cater to your dog’s needs.
At Heartcave Senior Paws Retreat & Rehab, our staff : dog ratio is low, at 2 : 7, allowing us time to cater to their INDIVIDUAL needs. We do not charge extra if your dog requires more meals or more feeding of medications.
Being in a doggy day care, you are assured that your dog will have mental and physical stimulation that keeps them and their minds active. More importantly, they will not be left alone and will always have a human around to supervise.
Put your mind at ease while you work (or play), knowing that your dog is in safe, caring hands.
